How would you spend a sweltering hot day in Sydney? Well, a few friends and I decided to catch up at Manly beach to escape the heat of Summer. We set off early in the morning while it was still cool. Once we got off the ferry from Circular Quay, a cool breeze immediately re-energised us. We walked along The Corso's promenade taking note of all the eateries so it would be easier to decide what we'd have for lunch later on. One particular store caught our attention with its endless lines - Manly Ocean Foods. The place is tiny with no where to sit but with the beach being only a 2 minute walk away, why sit inside?

manly ocean foods:
voted best fish and chips:
calamari box ($11.30):

7 calamari rings, regular chips and tartare sauce. I absolutely loved these calamari rings! They were large and the batter was crispy and the ring had such a nice chewy consistency. When you take a bite from the ring, you can see just how chewy it is from its melted cheese like strands.

octopus box ($13.90):
8 grilled baby octopus, regular chips and tartare sauce. These tiny octopi were chewy and smothered in a beautiful barbecue sauce that worked well with the tartare sauce.

Oh yes, the chips were great too! I am usually unable to find thick chips which are also crunchy but these were perfect! Crunchy ended chips always make my day. Plus, since there were so many people constantly lining up and buying boxes and boxes of seafood, you'd expect nothing but fresh and fresh is what I got.  Very satisfied.

Hi there! My name is Anna. I'm nineteen, in my second year of uni (UNSW) and born in Sydney. This blog is about my gastronomic adventures in Australia and abroad. It all started when I got new camera (Samsung Ex1) and since then, I've been mainly taking photos of food. So, I decided to document everything on this blog.

I'm still learning to take nice pictures - my camera isn't exactly the greatest but it works.

Oh, and I think we should get this out of the way (just in case you decide to unfriend me) I'm not a fan of chocolate or coffee. (Yes you saw right).

Anyway, enough about me - thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy!
